Our Mountain Gorilla is a mother, and she carries her child on her back as she moves forward. The infant gorilla is looking out at us with the innocence of a human child, imploring us to help its species with whom we share so much DNA. Dangling from a neck or wrist, this is a powerful image of motherhood, innocence and determination despite an uncertain future.

Mountain gorilla populations have been devastated by poaching and deforestation. Once expected to be extinct by 2000, their numbers are slowly improving due to daily protection and the efforts from the foundations, partners and governments committed to their survival.
Conservation Beneficiary: The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International is focused on the "conservation, protection and study of gorillas in the wild." They rescued the mountain gorilla population from the brink of extinction and are continuing to protect them. Their primary goal is daily protection, and tracking. They also aim to promote education and awareness surrounding these magnificent primates. They work closely with the local communities, governments and global partners.
