Our Orangutan is a spirited, jovial pendant that swings on that chain as if it were a vine or branch. This tree dweller moves along the neckline much like it does in real life. Details under the arms reflect its shaggy reddish hair. Her face looks directly at us, not dissimilar to a human face, given the fact that orangutans share 96.4% of its physical characteristics with us humans.

Orangutans are struggling to survive due to demanding development of their habitats in Sumatra and Borneo. Often, it is illegal and unsustainable deforestation for palm oil plantations and other crops. Hunting and stealing offspring to be sold as pets is another devastating factor that still runs rampant today.
Only around 7500 Sumatran Orangutans still exist. Their breeding cycle is very slow, with females giving birth to one offspring every 3-5 years. That offspring stays with its mother until aged 8, one of the longest mothering in the animal kingdom.
